Win-11 update hangs + error..

went to check for daily updates and I get this error when "checking" and hangs. I check/do several times a week.

0x800705b4 in Windows Update usually means a timeout occurred

  • Press Start, type cmd, right-click Command Prompt, and choose Run as administrator.
  • Paste the following commands one by one pressing Enter after each:
    • (You can click on each of these commands below, one by one and they will copy to your clipboard for pasting)

net stop bits​
net stop cryptsvc​
ren C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old​
ren C:\Windows\System32\catroot2 catroot2.old​
net start wuauserv​
net start bits​
net start cryptsvc​

  • This clears the cache and restarts the update services.
